Ivan is younger and has a different lifestyle, but he too is on his own spiritual pursuit journey. Overall, the book is a deep reflection on grief, family relationships and love. A bit melancholic, but at the same time a realistic story.

Portrait of a Mysterious Composer; Arif Serdengeçti
We know very little about him. The sources about him on the internet are also very limited. We know that he was born in 1944 and graduated from Robert College and METU Business Administration. He then continued his education at Northwestern University in the US, worked in the field of management and information systems in the following years, and retired. On his YouTube channel, he talks about his love of nature and animals, and his passion for popular and classical music. His interest and talent for the piano led him to composing. On his Youtube channel, there is an interpretation of one of his first compositions from the 60s played on the piano by the legendary musician Şerif Yüzbaşıoğlu.
We met him through our superstar Ajda Pekkan. The artist, who started to work with Turkish composers with the albums Sen Mutlu Ol and Sevdim Seni, but could not adopt this new style very well, chose almost all the songs from foreign compositions while selecting the repertoire for the long player “Süperstar '83”, which he started to prepare in 1983. However, only one song with local lyrics and music stands out in the album, “Güneş Yorgun.” The lyrics of this wonderful la minor tune are by Fikret Şeneş and the composition is by Arif Serdengeçti. When Garo Mafyan's masterful arrangement, in which he stands out with his clavinet and electric piano, is added to the mix, we have a great Turkish Pop music classic.
In the same year, we come across him in the album “5 Vals 10 Tango” by the band Five Years Ago Ten Years Later. This time the song “ Yaz Yağmuru” (Summer Rain), the lyrics of which belong to Aysel Gürel, is a very impressive work with its arrangement and polyphonic vocals. His last known published song is “ Hayallerin Işında” (In the Light of Dreams), again with lyrics by Aysel Gürel, which he composed for the 1984 Eurovision Song Contest Turkey Final. It is a very special song with its lyrics, composition and the magnificent performance of Nükhet Ruacan, a master jazz vocalist. Unfortunately, this beautiful song did not reach the ranking in the national competition that year.
Apart from these, unfortunately, there is no published song by Arif Serdengeçti. There is only a song on his Youtube channel called “Bilsem”, sung by Ayşegül Aldinç, with lyrics by Fikret Şeneş and arrangement by Onno Tunç. It can be assumed that this recording is a song from Aldinç's long-players that she recorded in those years but gave up on releasing and disappeared into a mystery.
That's why I named the title “Mysterious Composer”. I wanted to unravel the mystery of this musician about whom very little is known. I hope he is in good health, I wish him a long life full of music and I would like to share his wonderful composition “Hayallerin Işığında” as interpreted by Nükhet Ruacan.
