BOOK
"THE DEVIL INSIDE US" - Sabahattin Ali
"The Devil Inside Us" by Sabahattin Ali was not the first book I read from him, but it became the one that left the deepest impression on me. The book narrates the love between Ömer and Macide, who come from very different worlds and have vastly different perspectives on life, and their process of divorce. This work, heavily influenced by its social context, is a novel that critiques various political and societal tendencies in university, culture, and art circles before World War II. The ending was both striking and surprising to me. The place the characters hold in my memory and the realism of their emotions... The depiction of widespread hypocrisy and self-interest in society, and our own weakness of will, was very successfully addressed. It was one of the books I did not want to end. Ömer, Macide, Bedri... In your own ways, you all are so right.
The author beautifully expresses the devil that is not actually inside us:
"What devil, my dear, what devil? It's just a fabrication of our pride, our foolishness... The devil inside us is just a not-so-clever escape route... There is no devil inside us... What we have inside is weakness... Laziness..."

MUSIC
The Beatles' Lost Song; Now and Then
The Beatles is arguably the most influential band of the 20th century, defining the concept of popular music in the world with their unique style and ever-evolving musical understanding. After their shocking breakup in the early 1970s, each "Beatle" made music according to his own understanding and succeeded.
The story of the lost song that is the subject of this article is quite interesting. The legendary John Lennon, the member of the band who was murdered in 1980 and whose death saddened the whole world, had prepared some demo recordings in 1977, which were shared years later, in 1994, by his wife Yoko Ono with Paul McCartney, one of the other members of the band. McCartney and the other surviving members of the band, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, set to work in 1995 to complete these demo songs and even made some recordings. They managed to finish the songs "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love" and released these recordings at that time. But when it came to the third song "Now and Then" from the demo recording, unfortunately the technical possibilities of the time were not sufficient to separate John Lennon's voice from the demo recording and the idea of completing this song was shelved. A few years later, in 2001, the band was devastated by the loss of their guitarist George Harrison.
Years have passed. Thanks to advances in sound technology and artificial intelligence, it is now possible to eliminate the technical difficulties experienced. In 2021, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, the surviving members of the Beatles, began to work again. With artificial intelligence support, Lennon's voice was separated from the demo recording and could finally be used in the song. Along with John Lennon's vocals, the guitar parts played by George Harrison in 1995 were added to the song and the song was finalized.
Exactly 50 years after the breakup of the band, the legendary quartet came together again thanks to the developing technology and John Lennon's last composition, The Beatles' last song "Now and Then" was completed. The song is released in November 2023 on all digital platforms, vinyl, cassette and CD formats. For the first time in years, fans will be able to listen to a new song by The Beatles, whose songs have been legendary for generations.
