PORTRAITS FROM ATU

a2 REYHAN SOYDEMİR
Ankara

Name & Surname?

Reyhan Soydemir

What is your title?

Assistant Team Leader

Where would you most like to live?

I would like to live in New York, one of the capitals of fashion. Because I think it is one of the cultural capitals where I can socialise every minute, where I can experience all kinds of activities. It is also said that even the best sushi in the world can be eaten in New York City.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

I am impatient when I think of something, I want to do it right away, I can't wait to do it.

What is your favorite feature?

Being positive and passing that on to those around me is my favourite quality. I prefer to look at the positive side of every situation. If I encounter negativity, I know it is an experience for me and I learn from it.

What is your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is natural disasters. That there's nothing one can do. Desperation...

Which talent would you most like to have?

I wish I could speak every language. Being able to speak every language would help me see life from different perspectives.

Who is your favorite hero in history?

Gabrielle Coco Chanel. I can say that she is one of my favourite heroines in history because, as a woman, she broke new ground in the male-dominated society of her time. The fact that Coco Chanel designed the uniforms for the Turkish army and that she made trousers, short hair and red lipstick fashionable for women, which were considered contrary at the time, is enough to make her my favourite.

What features do you want your friends to have?

Empathy, good will and being a good listener! If everyone had these, I think there would be peace and tranquillity all over the world.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

It is good to be able to empathise but too much of it can put us in the position of having to manage the situation. So I wish I could be less empathetic.

What is your favorite occupation?

Dancing, socialising, travelling and seeing new places, meeting new people.

What is your greatest regret?

I honestly can't find an answer to that. Whatever I did, I'm glad I did it and I've become the person I am now.

When and where were you happiest?

The times when we celebrated Eid with all our relatives in my grandmother's family home. Everyone was kissing each other's hands, hugging each other and giving each other presents in their latest Eid clothes. The loud laughter never stopped.

What is your motto?

“Carpe Diem”, ‘’Live the moment’’... When people are asked about their biggest regrets, they always talk about what they didn't do. So I want to do what comes to mind and enjoy the moment without thinking about what they will say. This age will never come again. So I have to increase the number of happy, fun days.
