PORTRAITS FROM ATU

a2 BENGÜ ÖZDEMİR
Ankara

Name & Surname?

Bengü Özdemir

What is your title?

I am excited and happy to be appointed as Deputy Team Leader in June.t

Where would you most like to live?

I would like to say that I am very happy to live in Ankara, but I have my mind always on temperate climates with plenty of sunshine all year round and deep blue sea... Any place with these characteristics would be the place I would want to live. It's not going to happen with Eymir and Mogan Lake.😊

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

I really, really wish I could say no to sweet treats. I have this thing where I can't say no to dessert and I don't like it.

What is your favorite feature?

Being objective saves me from selfishness. I can communicate well with my empathy. I can solve problems more easily with my positive approach. Being decisive is another one of my favorite traits.

What is your greatest fear?

My only fear is losing my loved ones. I accept all other definitions of fear as bondage. If you are afraid of the dark you hate the night, those who fear the future walk without hope, uncertainty about life sometimes scares you, the list goes on and on... I think courage ends bondage.

Which talent would you most like to have?

I would love to be an author, who writes well. In the past, I have written columns as an amateur. I have always been the clear winner of literature and composition exams.

Who is your favorite hero in history?

My hero is Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan! She not only took science and civilization as her path, but she also took it upon herself to educate girls all over the country, even though she had no vested interest in doing so. She was a true patriot and a modern Turkish woman. Courage, discipline and a heart full of love… How lucky we are that Türkan Saylan lived in this land. On the 14th anniversary of her death, I commemorate her with respect, longing and mercy.

What features do you want your friends to have?

I value respect very much. I want the same respect and care. At the same time, what the other person brings to me is also important. A new perspective, experiences, energy, all very valuable.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I love myself for who I am. Because my every trait makes me who I am.

What is your favorite occupation?

The time I spent with my family, of course. I also enjoy nature walks and outdoor excursions.

What is your greatest regret?

I was a very good handball player at school. I was also a playmaker. I regret leaving the club. I wonder where I would have been if I had taken it further.

When and where were you happiest?

In 2006, when I held my son in my arms, the first time our eyes met.

What is your motto?

Live well, be honest, don't give up!
