BOOK
A Little Life Author: Hanya Yanagihara
An award-winning novel, A Little Life focuses on friendship, love, pain and the effects of abuse. It has many different layers and tells the interconnected life stories of 4 friends over the years from the perspective of each of them. The most fascinating aspect is the traumatic backstory of one of the friends, which is gradually revealed. Although it contains repetitions from time to time, it has a gripping language that does not get boring while reading. I recommend it to anyone who likes novels, especially those who like to read drama and are interested in psychology.

Art of War Author: Sun Tzu
The Art of War is a brief book of advice on strategy given by a Chinese commander. Since he was a commander, almost all of his advice is about the military and war... But The Art of War is not just a book about war; the lessons in the book are flexible enough to be used in many areas of life, from corporate politics to bilateral relations.

MUSIC
What a Time! An Arrangement Story
As it is known, arrangement songs have marked a period in our popular music. Especially with the Turkish spoken pop movement that started in the 60s, the translation of foreign songs into Turkish became a fashion, and many foreign songs started to be translated into Turkish with the leadership of songwriters such as Fecri Ebcioğlu and Sezen Cumhur Önal.
As an interpreter, Ajda Pekkan, the rising name of the period, came to the fore, almost became the pioneer of this style and continued this style with arranged songs until the 80s. In the following years, the artist, who started to work more with Turkish composers and songwriters, drew a new path for himself in his career in this sense.
Following the Anatolian Pop movement of the 70s, local compositions and composers came to the forefront, and although arrangements have moved away from arrangements over the years, there have been successful foreign song adaptations from time to time. The song ‘Y'a Des Jours Comme Ça’ by the Algerian French pop music group Nacash Brothers can be included among these successful examples.
The song, which was released on the Nacash Brothers' 1988 45 LP, successfully reflects the intense electronic pop attitude of the second half of the 80s. Two years after its release in France, the song was successfully interpreted by Ajda Pekkan under the title ‘Ne Günler’ with Fikret Şeneş's wonderful Turkish lyrics inspired by the original and Garo Mafyan's arrangement, and became one of the most popular songs of the album ‘Ajda 1990’, Ajda Pekkan's fast entry into the 90s.
With the resurgence of Turkish pop in the 90s, arrangement fashion was not seen except for limited examples, and as expected, local works dominated the music market. Arrangements did not appear on the music agenda again except for some rare examples.

PODCAST
My Mum's Records
TA podcast series that I can really recommend to you with the transmission of one of the only artists who uses Turkish so properly. I refer to him as an artist because he is also interested in painting and sound arts. The most striking aspect of these podcasts is that in addition to the topics he talks about, he compiles millions of emotions in daily life and conveys them to you with an incredibly effective tone of voice and striking accents. He almost throws the listener a curve with this intense transfer of emotion. For example; ‘You hear the words “I'm going to take my head and go away” and immediately afterwards a deep silence with the words ’You'll just change the seats’ Isn't it, though? :)
